Web Privacy Instructions

At Winsted, we encourage privacy-conscious visitors to strengthen their privacy profile. We determine your opt-in or opt-out preference based on the privacy settings you choose in your browser. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we automatically treat that as an opt-out, meaning we will not load any cookies, analytics, or advertising scripts on your device.

The instructions below explain how to enable GPC in common browsers and platforms. By enabling GPC, you signal your preference not to be tracked. At Winsted, we honor this signal automatically. More importantly, enabling GPC and using privacy tools gives you added protection on every site you visit, not just ours.

Mozilla Firefox

Follow these steps to enable the Global Privacy Control signal in your Firefox browser:

  1. Go to SettingsPrivacy & SecurityWebsite Privacy Preferences.
  2. Toggle on the setting “Tell websites not to sell or share my data”.

See more information on Firefox’s support page for privacy controls

Google Chrome

To enable GPC on Chrome, install Privacy Badger, a free browser extension made by the leading digital rights nonprofit EFF to stop companies from spying on you online.

Once Privacy Badger is installed, your browser will send a GPC signal which this website will detect and honor by suppressing all tracking scripts.

Microsoft Edge

To enable GPC on Microsoft’s Edge browser, install Privacy Badger, a free browser extension made by the leading digital rights nonprofit EFF to stop companies from spying on you online.

Once Privacy Badger is installed, your browser will send a GPC signal which this website will detect and honor by suppressing all tracking scripts.

Safari

On macOS:

  1. Click the Safari menu → Settings… → Privacy
  2. Ensure Prevent cross-site tracking and Hide IP address from trackers options are turned on.

On iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open the Settings app and go to AppsSafari
  2. Scroll down to the Privacy and Security section, and ensure Prevent cross-site tracking is enabled, and Hide IP address is set to Trackers and Websites.

Safari doesn’t support GPC signals, and there aren’t extensions to enable GPC on Safari either. However, the steps above will effectively prevent tracking scripts on this site (and all others!).

You can also install the free DuckDuckGo web browser app on your computer, phone or tablet, which does send GPC signals this website can recognize.
