1.4 The system shall have a minimum 1" (25mm) thick MDF core, PVC work surface. The work surface shall be not less than 18" (457mm) deep overall and should include a 1-3/4" (44mm) deep beveled edge covering the work surface's entire front width.
1.5 Upper compartment shall allow for a minimum of 20° slope away from the operator for all electronics placed above 26"H (661mm) from the floor level.
2.Standards
2.1 Optional rack mount insert shall comply with Electronic Industry Association (E.I.A.) specifications for rack mounting ANSI/E standard RS-310.
3.Drawings
3.1 The contractor shall supply five sets of scaled drawings for each console assembly showing the location of all the specified electronics in isometric view in addition to a plan (top) and front views.
3.2 The specification of sizes and dimensions shown in the drawings shall have a tolerance of not more than +/- 0.062" (1.6mm).
4.Modular Pre-Engineered Construction
All components within the system shall be:
4.1 Of a pre-engineered modular construction, i.e: constructed from a series of independent sectional compartments.
4.2 Available from a pre-defined set of manufacturers model numbers.
4.3 Capable of accepting decorative side frames constructed of 2" x 2" (51mm x 51mm) x 1/8" (3.2mm) thick aluminum tube and have a 82" (2083mm) radius front edge.
4.4 Free from alterations to the design either prior to or following installation, will be accomplished without the need for either welding or carpentry work.
4.5 Perforated cable screens span the entire back for attaching cables. 3-1/2" round grommet holes allow for cables to pass unobstructed out the console back. Also, 4" by 1-1/2" grommets are located on the bottom of each chase leg.
4.6 Constructed of a steel super-structure framework (including top modules) with external decorative side panels in plexiglas, truform or laminated panels.
5.Self Supporting Skeleton Framework
The self supporting skeleton framework shall:
5.1 Be installed onto the site in advance of any external finishing panels. The framework shall be fully capable of supporting all specified electronics without the need for attachment of any external panels.
5.2 Be capable of being supplied to site in knockdown (flat packed) form and be capable of using assembly 1/4-20 bolts without welding or carpentry work.
5.3 Include lower and upper individual modular sections and be constructed of 14, 16 and 18 gauge* (.074", .059", .047") sheet metal. Console sections shall be secured together by use of 1/4-20 bolts. All welds exposed to the front shall be filed smooth and sharp contours eliminated.
6.Components
6.1 Pedestal Legs Pedestals to be at least 4-1/2" (114mm) in width and capable of supporting a fully loaded console. 3/8" diameter threaded adjustable glides with four grommet holes and two 4"Wx 4"D caster pocket holes per pedestal. 14 gauge (.074") sheet metal. 2" (51mm) optional swivel casters attach to the bottom of the pedestal legs.
6.2 Horizontal Chase A 14 gauge (.074") steel horizontal support 7" (178mm) high by variable widths. Rear horizontal support 3" (76mm) high by variable widths. Two piece assembly with 3/4" slots @ 1" centers for horizontal adjustment of components. Shall include mounting holes for shelf support brackets.
6.3 Bottom Shelf Shall be available as a pullout. 18 gauge (.047") steel shelf shall extend 14" (356mm) from the face of the console and requires a 140 lbs. (64kgs) load capacity.
6.4 Lower Doors A vented or solid door shall be available. 18 gauge (.047") steel door with 16 gauge (.059") steel welded hat channel stiffener. Shall open 180° from either the right or left side. A lever latch with lock shall be supplied.
6.5 Light Bar Welded formed steel light enclosure shall be supplied for each workstation. Light bar adjust 44"-46"-48" high from the floor. Each light assembly shall have 16Watt flourescent bulbs.
6.6 Monitor Pan 18 gauge (.047") pan and 14 gauge (.074") steel side supports capable of mounting in the chase. Shall allow for 5" (127mm) height and 20° tilt adjustment using a spring latch hinge system.
6.7 CPU Holder 16 gauge (.059") CPU holder and 14 gauge (.074") steel support capable of mounting in the chase. Shall have a height adjustment of 16" (406mm) in 1" (25mm) increments. Overall width of no less than 10-3/4" (273mm) and depth of 18" (457mm).
